"heretic pride" the mountain goats.

it has become increasingly aware to me that i am falling out of touch with the music industry.  it wasnt until i was perusing pitchfork a few nights ago, reading an interview with animal collective's panda bear, that i discovered the mountain goats had released a new album.

"heretic pride", the newest mountain goats effort, is quite good to say the least.  it harkens back to some of darnielle's older, more nonsensical pieces with songs like "sax rohmer #1" about a sailor.  then there are songs like "heretic pride", the title track off the album, which pack a punch with lines like i waiting so long and now i taste jasmine on my tongue // i feel so proud to be alive // i feel so proud when the reckoning arrives.

over all i think the album flows very well, although it lacks any real cohesive thread.  so bravo john darnielle, you have satisfied me once again.
